The obvious and straightforward truth that the Savior from scripture advocates for a kind of extreme compassion focused on the poor has consistently rendered the Christian faith something of a controversial faith: engaging for the masses, but owing to its intrinsic extremism needing to be restrained. In the fifties it was contained through watering down – The Protestant faith was so prevalent that it essentially sanctified existing conditions.
A Struggle for the Best of Us
