Presence
Soderbergh pushes his film-making abilities through this nifty ghostly tale captured wholly through the eyes of the phantom. After a clan including mother Rebekah plus Callina Liang as Chloe settles into their fresh home, the lens – as the unseen entity – shadows their actions. The daughter appears conscious of the poltergeist, and it seems protective of her. However, the motive remains? This is an entertaining concept that avoids overstaying, including a revelation that could catch you off guard. October 11th, 4.35pm, 10.10pm, Sky Cinema

This Creepy Thriller
Scott Derrickson's claustrophobic thriller stands strong even without a follow-up. Set in 1978 Denver, multiple kidnappings has made the local kids frightened. Once Finney is kidnapped by “the Grabber” and imprisoned in a basement, he anticipates a fatal end. But the non-functional line mounted nearby continues to ring, with ghostly voices providing assistance, as the prophetic visions of his sister Gwen may be his salvation. A solid creepfest. Saturday 11 October, 10.50pm, Film4
The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the battle between faith and wealth, the victory is clear for Mammon in this director's wonderfully garish biopic regarding the shamed TV preacher plus her lawbreaking partner. The actor plays the corrupt Bakker, who proclaims early on, “God does not want us to be poor,”. The couple begin monetising the American public's Christian beliefs. It's a spectacle of tacky decor, excessive cosmetics and hypocrisy, though the lead actress achieves to show Tammy Faye as a sympathetic figure. Tuesday 14 October, 1.15am, Film4
Black Bag
This week's another release by the same director delivers a spy mystery as tight like the turtlenecks sported by the actor's intelligence officer. He receives a mission to identify a mole among the team out of five possibilities – among them is Kathryn, played by Cate Blanchett. Each performer are masters of understated style, so a delicious mental battle of fact versus fiction unfolds. Tom Burke, Regé-Jean Page, Naomie Harris and Marisa Abela participate the clever spy entertainment. October 17th, 8.05am, 12.55pm, 8pm, the Sky channel
